Poems By Mary Baker Eddy

Originally intended as a 100-copy presentation edition for students and friends, Mary Baker Eddy’s Poems was given wider distribution at the encouragement of her staff. In the foreword, Adam H. Dickey called the slim volume’s contents “the spontaneous outpouring of a deeply poetic nature.” The 48 poems in the collection span Mrs. Eddy’s lifetime, including verses written in girlhood, and touch on moments both public and private, triumphant and tender.

Some of the poems had been published in newspapers and magazines; others had appeared in the Christian Science periodicals; seven would be set to music and appear in the Christian Science Hymnal.
